Pine Rivers Pensioners Rugby Union Club

It was shortly after the 1984 London Golden Oldies World Cup that three distinguished
gentlemen of the game, Roger Burns, Kev Ward and Dave Mungles, were discussing the
results over a few quiet ales and the idea of a club was raised.
The idea grew and grew until 1986 saw the birth of the Pine Rivers Pensioners. The
original playing strip was a white jersey with black stripes and the Pensioners were
based at Ogg Road in Murrumba Downs.
In 1991 the Pensioners changed their playing
strip to a blue and green jersey until 1998 before changing to the blue, green and
white strip they wear proudly to this day. The team moved from Murrumba Downs to
Bray Park, in 2006, where they share the Pine Rivers Pumas Clubhouse, fields and
facilities.
The Team has continued to flourish and play in the true tradition of Golden
Oldies Rugby Union; fun, friendship and fraternity. The Pensioners can proudly claim
to have had at least one team representative at every World Cup held since the club
was formed.
25 years young and going strong!
